What’s something most people don’t understand?

In the journey of life—from the innocence of childhood to the wisdom of old age—there are two places that act as the forge for our souls: Our Home and Our School.

But why do some people emerge as leaders while others fall into the shadows of bitterness? The answer lies in the roots.

1. The First Home: Where the Seeds are Sown
Our biological home is the first stage of our existence. It is here that we receive the “sacred dose” of values (Sanskar).
“A mother is the first and most influential teacher a human ever has.”

I firmly believe that a cultured and educated mother raises cultured children. However, the reverse is also true. If the foundation at home is built on ignorance or ill-treatment, the child’s character often reflects that darkness. Our parents are our first gurus, and their behavior becomes our subconscious map.

2. The Second Home: The Temple of Knowledge (The School)

If the home sows the seed, the school provides the soil. School is where we get formal education and discipline. But here is the catch: Not every student absorbs what is taught.

A Chilling Memory: Revenge vs. Education
I remember a terrifying incident from my primary school days. We were in the middle of an English class with Dalal Madam. Suddenly, two or three young men stormed into the school carrying heavy wooden sticks!
Their mission? Revenge.
Years ago, when they were students, the teacher had scolded and punished them for not completing their homework. Instead of learning from it, they carried that grudge into adulthood. This happens when a child’s family environment is toxic or “bad-natured.” No matter how good the school is, if the parents’ behavior is abusive, the children often follow that destructive path.

3. My Legacy: The Strength of a Teacher’s Granddaughter
I was never that kind of student. Why? Because my grandmother herself was a teacher!

I was raised in an environment where Non-violence (Ahimsa) and Truth (Satya) weren’t just words—they were a lifestyle. My grandmother used to attend the rallies of the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. She would tell me stories of Bapuji’s struggle.

If India hadn’t followed the path of Gandhi, we might still be in chains today. Being born into a family that values the legacy of a “Godfather” like Mahatma Gandhi, there was no doubt—I was destined to be a woman of character and values.
4. The Art of Being an Ideal Student
To me, school wasn’t just about passing exams; it was about the sanctity of the environment. While other kids were busy throwing paper scraps and creating a mess, I was different:
* Ownership: I used to clean my own bench every day. I hated dust and clutter.
* Creativity: I maintained a special “Suvichar Register” (Register of Great Thoughts).

* Contribution: Because of my beautiful handwriting, I was the one who wrote the daily “Thought of the Day” on the blackboard to inspire others.

* Focus: School is a never-ending treasury of knowledge. While others wasted time on “nonsense,” I focused on the teacher’s words.

The Bottom Line
School is not a place for mischief; it is a place for intellectual awakening. The “futility” of modern distractions will never help you in the long run. Only the wisdom you absorb from your teachers and the discipline you maintain will build your future.

Are you building your character, or are you just attending classes? The choice begins at home.
