Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.
When I was a kid, I couldn’t attend school because of the poor conditions at home. My education was only up to primary level, so I was at home in my teenage years. So I had to build our own house with our own hands. In earlier times, our house was made up of mud because of poverty. When I was a kid, I had to go far and fetch soil. Being small, I couldn’t lift heavy weights. Then I would take a small bucket and fill it with clay. My younger siblings would help out a little bit. Then I would bring the soil and chop the soil with a sieve. To separate the soil and stones. Then sprinkle some water in the soil so that it brings moisture to the soil. The workers had build the roof of the house of Kavelu and wooden boards were nailed to support the Kavelu. Bamboo wood was used to support the wall in the soil. In the bucket, I used to mix a lot of soil and a small amount of water. This mixed coating was finely kneaded and made a thin ball, then coated the wall. Then I would go to the cow shed, a kilometre away, to fetch dung. I had to get up at four in the morning to get the dung. Otherwise, if you’re late, the dung will run out. Then, after bringing the dung, I would pour water into the dung, then I would take a small rag and soak the soil with that dung. So that the soil wall does not crack and the walls do not crack. After all this was processed, I would go to a little distant shop to get lime for the last processing and after bringing the lime, I would soak the limestone in water. Sometimes the shopkeepers would trick me and deceive me. Sometimes stones were given in place of lime and when they were put in the water, they would crack. Then my mother would shout, ‘Couldn’t you properly pick the right limestone?’ You brought stones instead. Then my mother and I would plaster the wall with lime. How much work will my mother do now? Cooking, cleaning, filling tap water in the house. So I had to do things like that and contribute as much to the house as I could. That’s how I built our house with my own hands. So here’s the description of the most ambitious DIY project of my life.
So that’s my prompt’s response for today! Thank you so much to all the fellow bloggers who support me! Take care! Stay safe!
